Biography

Adel Daoud is a Senior Associate Professor at the Institute for Analytical Sociology, Linköping University, and Affiliated Associate Professor in Data Science and AI for the Social Sciences at Chalmers University of Technology. He has held positions at Harvard, Stanford, Cambridge, the Max Planck Institute, and the Alan Turing Institute. His research bridges social science and methodology, focusing on global development, particularly determinants of health and living conditions, and advancing methods in machine learning and causal inference. He has published in leading journals and conferences such as PNAS, Science Advances, World Development, AAAI, and NAACL. Daoud leads the AI and Global Development Lab, which integrates AI, earth observation, and socio-economic theory to study sustainable development, with collaborators across top universities. He also hosts "Journeys of Scholars", a podcast exploring the strategies, habits, and principles behind academic success, offering practical insights through in-depth interviews with leading scholars.
