Biography

Dr Sokhna Thiam is a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the African Population and Health Research Center based at the West Africa Regional Office in Dakar, Senegal. She is also scientific research collaborator at IRESSEF and at the Ecosystem Health Sciences Unit at the Swiss TPH and an associated lecturer at the University of Dakar. Her research focus is on examining the impact of environmental change on health with a specific focus on climate change and its impacts on health to inform intervention in Africa. Her broader interests are in applying planetary health approach on research to understand the interaction between population and natural system, and transdisciplinary research approach in achieving health and sustainable development. She has participated in several projects on climate and health in West Africa and has published more than 10 scientific publications in peer-review journals. She is member of the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology and outgoing secretary of the ISEE Africa Chapter Executive Council.
