Biography

Professor Turner T. Isoun (Chair) was the Minister of Science and Technology of the Federal Republic of Nigeria between October 2000 and May 2007. He initiated policies that promoted both high-tech and low-tech science for development, and directed the development of policies that enabled the establishment of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure in Nigeria. Prof. Isoun previously held faculty and administrative positions at the University of Nigeria and the University of Ibadan. 

Working as a special advisor to the Rivers State government, Professor Isoun established Rivers State University of Science and Technology, the first university of science and technology in Nigeria, and served as its first Vice Chancellor in 1980. Prof. Isoun holds a Bsc (hons), D.V.M (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine), and PhD in Veterinary Medicine and Pathology from Michigan State University (USA). He is a fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Sciences and the African Academy of Sciences.
