Zakari is a Registered Associate Nutritionist (ANutr.) and a final year PhD student at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). He is currently based at the MRC Unit The Gambia at LSHTM, The Gambia. His research focuses on the healthiness and sustainability of food production and supply in low-and middle-income settings focused on West Africa. 
Zakari is the local project lead on the Wellcome Trust funded project on food system adaptations to climate change, Africa (FACE-Africa project). This research seeks to co-create food system solutions to climate change working with various stakeholders in food, agriculture, policymakers and local farmers.
