Biography

Dr Drager graduated from Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. He finished Internal Medicine residency at Hospital das ClÌnicas, University of S„o Paulo in 2001 and completed the fellowship in Cardiology at the Heart Institute (InCor), University of S„o Paulo in 2003.
Since December 2003, Dr. Drager has been an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Heart Institute (InCor), University of S„o Paulo Medical School. From 2003 to 2007, he performed his PhD at the Heart Institute (InCor) addressing the autonomic and hemodynamic control during sleep.
From 2009 to 2011, he performed his postdoctoral training at Johns Hopkins University exploring mechanisms of cardiovascular disease in animal models of sleep apnea. Recently, Dr. Drager became the leadership of the Brazilian Epidemiology Study namely ELSA-SONO, which was developed to explore the relative role of sleep apnea and sleep deprivation on the development of cardiovascular disease among 5000 participants from the Brazilian Community.
Future results from this ambitious project may provide additional information about the prevalence and consequences of sleep apnea and poor sleep quality in the society.
