Biography

Francis-André Wollman, Emeritus Research Director at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and member of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO), currently serves as Vice President for International Relations of the French Academy of sciences. 

His research focuses on the biogenesis, regulation and evolution of oxygenic photosynthesis and its response to an everchanging environment using genetics of the microalga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. Much of his recent research deals with the way the environment impacts the production of bioenergy.

He is the past-director of the laboratory “Physiology of Photosynthesis”, of the laboratory of excellence (LABEX) “DYNAMO” and of the Institut de Physico-Chimie (IBPC) in Paris from 2007 to 2018.
