Yuki Monden
Biography

Yuki MONDEN, Ph.D is a Professor, Grauate School of Environmental, Life, Natural Science and Technology, Okayama University.
Her research is focusing on agricultural science, especially plant genetics and breeding. Our laboratory conducts genetic and breeding research on sweetpotato. Using a Next Generation Sequencer (hereinafter referred to as NGS) that outputs a huge amount of DNA sequence data, we are working on the development of DNA markers and gene identification related to important agricultural traits such as disease and pest resistance and yield. We are also conducting gene expression analysis (Iso-Seq, RNA-seq analysis, etc.) to elucidate the mechanism of disease resistance and other agricultural traits.

Recognized for her exceptional research endeavors, Dr. Monden has received around 10 awards acknowledging her significant contributions to the scientific community. She is the recipient of “Award for young researchers in agriculture, forestry and fisheries” in 2020 from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan. She also received “Japan Prize in Agricultural Science, Achievement Award for Young Scientists” in 2020 from the Foundation of Agricultural Sciences of Japan.
