The 2019 Academy of Medical Sciences & The Lancet International Health Lecture will be held at 6.30pm on Wednesday 27 November at the British Library, London. It will also be publically broadcast by livestream here:
This year’s annual lecture will be presented by Professor Patricia J. García.
“Corruption is embedded in health systems. All my life, as a researcher, as a public health worker, and as a Minister of Health, I have been able to see entrenched dishonesty and fraud. But despite being one of the most important barriers to implementing universal health coverage around the world, corruption is rarely openly discussed.
If we are really aiming to achieve the sustainable development goals and ensure healthy lives for all, corruption in global health must no longer be an open secret.”
- Professor García
Read her blog ahead of the lecture here. Professor Patricia J. García is a former Minister of Health of Peru and former Chief of the Peruvian National Institute of Health. She is currently a Professor of the School of Public Health at Cayetano Heredia University in Lima, Peru.
The lecture will be available to view afterwards on the Academy's YouTube channel. You do not need to register to watch the livestream.
