Open Call for 2025 Global Young Academy Membership

Deadline for applications is 18 September 2024

The InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) is excited to announce that the 2025 Global Young Academy (GYA) membership call is now open, with applications being accepted until 18 September 2024 (23:59 UTC).

The GYA is seeking young, independent scholars who combine the highest levels of research excellence with a demonstrated passion for delivering impact. As a global organisation, GYA places a high value on diversity and encourages applications from all qualified candidates. The selection process is inclusive, ensuring that no applicant faces discrimination based on race, colour, ethnicity, religion, creed, sex, marital status, ancestry, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, physical or mental disabilities, or other factors. Efforts are made to prevent any single institution from being overly represented within the membership.

Women, minority groups and individuals from diverse disciplines—including the natural, physical and social sciences, as well as the arts and humanities—are especially encouraged to apply. The GYA also welcomes candidates from government, industry and non-governmental sectors.

About the Global Young Academy:

The GYA envisions "science for all; science for the future" and aims to provide a voice to young scientists and researchers globally. Founded in 2010, the GYA is an independent science academy comprising 200 exceptional early- to mid-career researchers from six continents. These members are selected for their academic excellence and commitment to societal engagement. Serving five-year terms, the GYA currently has members and alumni from around 100 countries. The GYA administrative office is hosted at the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and is publicly funded. GYA’s wide array of activities is supported by various international public and private funders.

GYA members are expected to participate in the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and contribute to the organisation’s programmes, which may include policy development, promoting National Young Academies, or advancing science and education on an international level. The 2025 AGM will take place in Hyderabad, India, from 10-13 June 2025.
