Ensuring Water for All: Strengthening Scientific Cooperation Across Africa

Access to safe and reliable water remains one of the most pressing development challenges across Africa. Climate variability, population growth and increasing pressure on ecosystems continue to strain water systems and highlight the need for stronger scientific collaboration and coordinated solutions.

The event Ensuring Water for All: Advancing Scientific Cooperation Across Africa, organised by the African Academy of Sciences in collaboration with the European Union and the CNRS, will bring together researchers, policymakers and institutional partners to explore how science can contribute to improved water security across the continent.

Discussions will focus on how scientific cooperation can support more effective water management, strengthen knowledge exchange and improve the use of research in decision-making. The event will also provide space to reflect on how cross-border collaboration can help scale up practical and context-specific solutions that respond to growing water challenges.

By connecting expertise across regions and disciplines, the session aims to support more integrated approaches to water security and highlight the role of science in building long-term resilience.
