Kick off meeting for first project under the new InterAcademy Partnership takes off in Halle (Saale), Germany

More than 25 participants from 20 countries are meeting on 1-2 June 2015 at the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina to debate a new project on food nutrition security and agriculture. The two-day meeting will include group discussions among the leadership of IAP’s four affiliated regional networks (AASSA, EASAC, IANAS and NASAC) and a number of selected experts from the fields of agricultural sciences, genetics, land change science, ecosystem services, alternative farming, crop production, nutrition, water policy and so on - to define opportunities and challenges for regional and global activities in the form of policy statements and reports and define a road-map also on how best to engage and inform policy makers in a sustained manner. The meeting will also be attended by a senior official of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, prime funder of the project.
