Prof. Ahmad Zaidee Laidin was appointed by the Prime Minister of Malaysia to the 2000 National Economic Advisory Council (MAPEN 2) while serving as Vice Chancellor of University Technology MARA.. He was one of the writers of the MAPEN 2 Report. and was elected to chair for Science and Technology Committee that made recommendations to the Government on teaching of Science in both primary and secondary schools.
In 2009 he was appointed to be a member of a four-man team to recommend the Apex university to the Malaysian Government. In 2010 he was also appointed to a team to audit four universities, (two Malaysian Research Universities and two foreign universities with Malaysian campuses). He is currently Chairman of Board of Directors of Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka. Ahmad Zaidee is a Past President of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia and is a Council Member of ASM.
