Biography

Mahouton Norbert Hounkonnou is Professor of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Abomey-Calavi, Benin. His works deal with noncommutative and nonlinear mathematics, and complex systems. He authors and reviews books. He serves as member and associate editor of editorial boards for renowned journals and books in mathematics and mathematical physics, including the Editorial Boards of the International Journal of Geometric Methods in Modern Physics (World Scientific), Mathematics in Mind (Springer), Afrika Matematika (Springer), Fields Cognitive Science Network, the Peer Community In (PCI) Neuroscience, etc. He published over 200 main research papers in outstanding ISI-ranked peer reviewed journals and international conference proceedings in the fields of mathematics, mathematical physics, theoretical physics and complexity. He is a visiting professor at African, Asian, European and North American Universities. He is former president of the Benin National Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters and member of several learned societies, including the Academy of Sciences of South Africa, the Hassan II Academy of Science and Technology, the African Academy of Sciences, the World Academy of Sciences. He has received several prestigious international awards including, most recently, the 2023 AIP Tate Medal and  2023 Yang Hui Prize for his seminal contributions to deformed quantum algebras.
