Dr. Udeme Ekpenyong Ekrikpo, is a Senior Lecturer with the University of Uyo and Consultant Nephrologist, University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, Uyo, Nigeria; Adjunct Senior Lecturer of Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Calabar and Deputy Director at the Institute of Health Research and Development, University of Uyo. He is a fellow of the Medical College of Physicians (Nigeria) and holds an MSc (Med) in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa and a medical degree from the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He pioneered renal replacement therapy provision for end-stage kidney disease patients in a 6.4 million population state in the extreme south of Nigeria and is currently running a Non-communicable disease outreach for the early detection of hypertension and diabetes and their complications for this population. He has published several articles in high impact journals and is a peer-reviewer for some journals. He is passionate about the development of health research capacity in Nigeria and is actively involved in teaching epidemiologic and biostatistics methods to health researchers in Nigeria.
