YPL Duha Shellah to Speak at Global Public Health Week Opening Ceremony

Duha Shellah, YPL 2022 alumna, will be speaking at the upcoming Global Public Health Week (GPHW).

YPL 2022 Duha Shellah, Chairwoman and Founder of the research community of Palestine "The Researchist," will be participating as a panelist at the upcoming Global Public Health Week (GPHW) on 8 April 2024. Organized by the World Federation of Public Health Associations (WFPHA), this event aims to address critical issues surrounding public health on a global scale.

Duha Shellah took part in the 2022 edition of the IAP Young Physician Leaders Programme (YPL). She is a Junior Medical Doctor and Journalist, graduated from medical school at An-Najah National University, Palestine. As the Chairwoman of The Researchist, a research community dedicated to making research accessible to youth and supporting early career researchers, Duha is deeply committed to advancing knowledge and advocating for equitable health opportunities.

In addition to her role at The Researchist, Duha is currently a research & teaching assistant at the Faculty of Medicine, Arab American University, Palestine. She is a consultant in Science Journalism at SciComm X Agency and an active member of the Medical Journalists’ Association (MJA).

Beyond her professional endeavours, Duha is a dedicated activist and advocate for reproductive and mental health rights for youth in Palestine, particularly those in marginalized communities. She is a founding member of the Palestinian Women in Surgery Society and is leading Women in Global Health Chapter in Palestine. Also, she is the coordinator of the Medical & Health Sciences division at the Palestine Academy for Science and Technology (PALAST).

Duha Shellah's participation in the panel discussion titled "Peace as a Prerequisite for Equitable Health" will provide insights into the health challenges faced by Palestinians amidst ongoing conflicts. Her expertise and advocacy efforts will contribute significantly to the dialogue on promoting equitable health globally.
