The Malian Sciences Academy (ASM) was created on Tuesday, November 1, 2016. It is an apolitical, non-religious, non-syndicated and non-profit-making society.  

The purpose of the Academy is to contribute to the socio-economic development of Mali through science, technology, letters, arts and culture; It provides the Malian State, and public and private Institutions with its expertise in higher education and scientific and technological research. 

ASM currently has 60 members, divided into the following categories: full members, corresponding members, associate members, institutional members and honorary members.  ASM's activities are carried out through five (05) Colleges: Sciences and Techniques, Health Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, Arts, Letters and Culture and Legal, Political, Economic and Management Sciences. Since 2024, the ASM is member of the Network of African Science Academies (NASAC).
