Science in Exile

Policy for Science

Overview

This project ultimately aims to lay the groundwork for coordinated national, regional and international support for refugee and displaced scientists, who will then be better placed to help with the rebuilding process in their home countries when conditions allow.

To this end, the current project aims to:

  • Map the landscape of organizations currently engaged in assisting refugee and displaced scientists;
  • Identify and analyse programmes/opportunities available to assisting refugee and displaced scientists, and bring them together online for easy access. The analysis will also begin to identify any gaps in opportunities aimed at assisting refugee and displaced scientists;
  • Build a network of interested organizations so that success stories can be shared, lessons learned and synergies developed; and
  • Raise awareness of the need for action among governments, international agencies, the broader scientific community and other stakeholders.
